Safari keyboard shortcuts

Safari is the default web browser of Apple's MacOS operating system.
Developed by Apple, Safari uses WebKit engine to render web pages. Safari
is also included in iOS devices since the introduction of the first iPhone
in 2007. Windows version was discontinued in 2012.

Safari has 50 shortcuts and we have listed all of them below.



Webpages
--------

Arrow keys              Scroll up, down, left, or right
Option + Arrow keys     Scroll in larger increments
Page Down               Scroll down a screen
Space                   Scroll down a screen
Page Up                 Scroll up a screen
Shift + Space           Scroll up a screen
Cmd + Up arrow          Scroll to the top-left corner of the page
Home                    Scroll to the top-left corner of the page
Cmd + Down arrow        Scroll to the bottom-left corner of the page
End                     Scroll to the bottom-left corner of the page
Tab                     highlights the next text field or pop-up menu. Tab also highlights buttons
and other controls if “All controls” is selected in the Shortcuts pane of
the Keyboard pane of System Preferences. Highlight the next item on a
webpage
Option + Tab            Highlights the same items as Tab plus all other clickable items. To swap
the behavior of Tab and Option + Tab, turn on “Press Tab to highlight each
item on a webpage” in the Advanced pane of Safari preferences
Shift + Cmd + \         Show all tabs
Cmd + Left click        Click on a link or bookmark to open a page in a new tab
Cmd + Enter             Press after typing in the Smart Search field to open a page in new tab
Shift + Cmd + Left click Click on a link or a bookmark to open a page in a new tab, and make that
tab the active tab
Cmd + Enter             Open a page in a new tab, and make that tab the active tab, after typing in
the Smart Search field
Control + Tab           Make the next tab the active tab
Shift + Cmd + ]         Make the next tab the active tab
Control + Shift + Tab   Make the previous tab the active tab
Shift + Cmd + [         Make the previous tab the active tab
Cmd + 1                 ... to 9: Select one of your first nine tabs
Option + Left click     Click the close button on the tab you want to leave open to close all tabs
except for one
Shift + Cmd + T         Reopen the last tab or window you closed

Hold down the Back or Forward button until the list appears to see a list
of your recently visited pages by name

Press Option and hold down the Back or Forward button until the list
appears to see a list of your recently visited pages by web address (URL)

Cmd + Home              Go to your homepage
Esc                     While typing in the Smart Search field, restore the current webpage address
Esc                     Close Reader
Esc                     Exit full-screen view
Option + Left click     Click on a link to the file to download a linked file
Double click            Double click on the file in the downloads list to open a downloaded file
Cmd + +                 Zoom in to website content
Cmd + -                 Zoom out to website content

Press Option while you choose View > Make Text Bigger or View > Make Text
Smaller Zoom website text. To zoom website text, press Option while you
choose View > Make Text Bigger or View > Make Text Smaller



Reading List
------------

Control + Cmd + 2       Show or Hide the Reading List sidebar
Shift + Cmd + D         Add the current page
Shift + Left click      Add a linked page
Control + Left click    Click the page summary in the sidebar, then choose Remove Item.

You can also swipe left over the page summary, then click Remove. Or, swipe
all the way to the left until the page summary disappears



Bookmarks
---------

Cmd + Left click        Use this shortcut in a folder on Favorites bar to open all bookmarks from a
folder


Bookmarks sidebar and bookmarks view
------------------------------------

Control + Cmd + 1       Show or Hide the Bookmarks sidebar
Cmd + Left click        Click on each bookmark and folder to select bookmarks and folders in the
sidebar
Shift + Left click      Extend the selection
Up arrow / Down arrow   Select the next bookmark or folder
Space                   Open the selected bookmark
Space                   Open the selected folder
Right arrow             Open the selected folder
Space                   Close the selected folder
Left arrow              Close the selected folder

Select the bookmark, then press Return to change the name or address of a
bookmark. You can also force click the bookmark

Esc                     Cancel editing a bookmark name in the sidebar
Enter                   Finish editing a bookmark name
Option + Left click     Click on the New Folder button near the top-right corner to create a folder
containing the selected bookmarks and folders in bookmarks view
Del                     Delete a bookmark
