Google's controversial attempt to make web faster got beaten once more, now by the web browser Brave. The company behind the browser announced in Tuesday that it will filter Google AMP pages automatically and open original pages instead.

AMP, stands for "Accelerated Mobile Pages", and aims to make your mobile browser to load pages faster by transferring less data. Launched in 2015, the framework relies on cropping many features of pages. These trimmed AMP pages are stored on Google's servers and this caused some right controversies. In addition to being able to remove important features of pages, some users argue that AMP does not really increase speed. The most justified view is that Google has increased its control over the web by hosting web pages on its own.

Brave's filtering action against AMP may be "brave" but AMP was in decline since long time. According to Brave's announcement, the AMP doesn't always load web pages faster. The firm also bases their action on the antitrust lawsuits from 16 US states against Google.

This is how the new "De-AMP" feature will work: The browser will first try to deflect you from visiting the AMP site at first place, but if this is not possible, the page will be watched as it' rendered and the user will be redireced away from AMP before any Google/AMP code is activated.

De-AMP is currently provided as an optional feature on Beta and Nightly builds of Brave. According to Brave Software, users who still want to use AMP will be able to do so by going brave://settings/shields and deactivating De-AMP.
