This version of operating system came with networking capabilities and used TrueType fonts first time. Windows 3.1 replaced Reversi game with Minesweeper. To start Windows 3.1, you had to type "win" in MS-DOS command line (which required MS-DOS to be installed first), this is why it is sometimes considered a "graphical interface" rather than full operating system.
