We've compiled most of the mpv's hotkeys together. We hope they will allow you to control mpv better. If you'd like to access user-defined bindings, go to ~/.config/mpv/input.conf .

A-B loops, more explicitly: Open the file in mpv. Position to 'A' and press 'l', now position to 'B' and press 'l' again. mpv will respond briefly with a message indicating that you have created an A-B loop. To cancel it press 'l' once more.

You can also loop A-B with L. L+shift loops whole file. You can pretty much do anything you want with these shortcuts. They're worth learning. I also hate VLC's right mouse button. And VLC doesn't have everything MPV has, but most of all it's not such a great quality player as MPV. MPV is much better if you want your videos decoded by hardware/GPU. it works beautifully and offloads decoding from CPU. VLC is quite buggy.

You can also ZOOM IN with ALT++ and ZOOM OUT with ALT+- and then use ALT+arrows to pan around the video. Very handy when you need to zoom in details in all those science docos. d=;)

Thanks for putting together this comprehensive list of mpv hotkeys! It's so handy to have all these shortcuts in one place. I've been using mpv for a while, but I'm still discovering new ways to enhance my video playback experience with these hotkeys. And the tip about user-defined bindings in ~/.config/mpv/input.conf is a game-changer – customization to the max!

Is there a way to enter a specific time so that the timeline jumps to that given time of e.g. a video.
? Guest OP says: 3 years ago 8/31/2022 3:28 AM
when playing a list of videos, this is essential

This is for US ANSI and EU ISO layout:

Press left Windows key + Right Windows key. Hold for 3 seconds. The keyboard’s backlight will flash 3 times to indicate the keyboard has been reset https://wordle-unlimited.io

https://raw.githubusercontent.com/mpv-player/mpv/master/etc/input.conf download this file and move it to the mpv folder.

It isn't even odd, it is ridiculous. The UP/DOWN Arrow keys for Volume Control is pretty obvious..... I thought, anyways.....
? Guest OP says: 3 years ago 3/30/2022 10:55 PM
You are totally right. The controls for the MPV player are just horrible. If the mouse and keyboard controls were developed beyond primitive phase design, I would never use VLC again (not that I don't like it). For now, I also stay with VLC.

How can I change the volume control to the Up and Down Arrow keys?

Right now, the up/down/left/right arrow keys all do the same forward/reverse tracking.

Ideally, I would like the Mouse Scroll Wheel to adjust the volume, like VLC player does. I know the idea is to be mousless, but when watching a movie, it is way easier and better to scroll the mouse wheel, than get your hands back on the keyboard.

Just getting the up and down arrow keys to adjust the volume would be great.

Thanks!
